Virtual Word Wall

I am so proud of this creation! Since our county started off virtual, and my class still is, I created a virtual word wall that students and parents can access. In the classroom, I have a word wall. Whenever we have a new sight word, I add it to the wall, we write the word, listen to a song and do many other activities with the new word. This is an alternative to having the word wall in the classroom. Families and students are asked to click on this from the resources tab on our website each day and week to explore the words and songs.

Here is the first page that families will see. I used the same pictures we use when we learn and work on the alphabet. Families and students can click on any letter to explore and see if any words are there. Families were given the sight word list when school started. On the list were the words that we teach each quarter. I update the virtual word wall each week that we add a new word.

If a family clicked on Aa, they would see this page. From here, you can see that we've worked on the words "a", "at" and "am." They can then click on the words that will take them to a sight word song that matches. If they click on the home button on the bottom, it will take them back to the main alphabet word wall.

Once they click on the word they want, it will take them to a YouTube video that matches. Jack Hartmann and Jan Richardson are both educational gurus who have many resources to help students and teachers. The way this song is set up, is the same process we follow when working on words in guided reading, per Jan Richardson. Below is a link to my word wall!
